Robert Butler is PROUD to say that he is a Father, a Son, a Brother, a Business Owner, an Employee, a UPSer, a Second Generation Teamster, a Republican, and an American.
Robert was born and raised in Stillwater NJ, attending first Stillwater School and then Kittatinny Regional High School. His mother was a stay at home mom while selling Avon and cleaning houses part time, and his father was a hard working auto mechanic commuting as much as 60 miles each way to work to provide for him and his 3 sisters in their 1000 square foot ranch. Robert grew up in the woods getting his hands and clothes dirty, while getting his knees and elbows cut up climbing trees, building forts, and bike riding.
Robert moved to East Stroudsburg with his mother in 2002 as property tax prices pushed her out of her house in NJ. After searching as far west as Hazleton, north as Blakeslee, and south as Lehighton, he searched for and bought his house in Polk Township in 2007 which I have called home for the past 13 years.
Robert attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science in 2003, while working 40-50 hour weeks at a Deli to work his way through college with the assistance of financial aid. He continued straight into his Master of Science in Management Information Systems at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck NJ, which he completed in 2007.
In 2003, Robert became a UPSer and Teamster in Local 177 as he started working at UPS in Mount Olive NJ part time as a package loader and a hazmat responder where he is still employed. As a hazmat responder, he is responsible for maintaining annual certifications to follow EPA, DOT, FAA, and other regulations during internal and KETER audits and when responding to, containing, and disposing of hazardous materials.
Also in 2003, Robert began working full time as a computer programmer an IT firm designing health insurance claim software where he worked for 15 years as a senior programmer. While working in the insurance industry he had to maintain and follow set procedures and protocols to ensure HIPAA regulations are met and SOC 16 audit compliancy.
After always being a hard worker, careful planner and a thrifty saver for his future family, in 2013, Robert’s first daughter Kauai Marie (Kaimi) was born and his second daughter Azalea Rose (Aria) was born in 2014 awakening him to the realization that the bubble he was always working and planning for was too defined and small to provide the safety and stability he had striven to give his family.
This led Robert to start his own businesses, United Alliance Health, United Alliance Technologies, Pets and Vets, Butler and Butler Management Services and Pocono Landscaping and Design, to become a more verbal and active member in the union now serving as Shop Steward, and become a more active member in the community as Director of the Polk Township Parks and Recreation Board, Vice Chair for the Monroe County Republican Committee, Monroe County Republican Committeeman for Polk Township, President of the West End Republican Club, Chair of the Arbor Day Celebration in the Monroe County Garden Club and a member of the Young Republicans of Monroe County and the Pleasant Valley Elementary PTO.
Robert has always worked on growing to reach an end, but as that end approached, he realized that there is so much more that he could do for his family, friends, community, country, and civilization and that he is only reaching a beginning. Robert has constantly chosen to continue on and fight harder and take on more while still balancing time and energy for him and his family. Robert has worked hard to have what he does, but also sees that without the help of everyone around him both now and before us, he would have nothing. Robert would like to do his part to give back as much as he can to allow everyone to have the same chances now and in the future that he had.
